We are proud to announce that our Founder and CEO, Johnson Mwawasi Kilangi, has been named the overall winner of the 2025/26 Strathmore University Alumni of the Year, Service to Community Award (SUAYA). The award was presented during the 3rd Annual Strathmore Alumni Connect brunch held at the Windsor Golf Hotel & Country Club on 4th October 2025. This prestigious recognition celebrates alumni who exemplify ethical leadership, professional excellence, and an unwavering commitment to using their expertise to advance society.
Johnson’s journey with Strathmore University began in 2004 when he received a Guinness scholarship by the Diageo and East African Breweries Limited to pursue a Bachelor of Commerce, Accounting degree. He later on graduated with a First-Class degree, laying a strong foundation for a career defined by excellence and impact. Equipped with knowledge of the Spanish language at Strathmore University, he worked for the Economic and Commercial Office of Spain in Kenya before beginning his career in the infrastructure sector.
With passion for quality infrastructure, he incorporated the Miundo Misingi Hub, an infrastructure hub whose vision is to work with governments and the private sector to improve the quality of life in Africa. Under Johnson’s leadership, Miundo Misingi Hub has emerged as a strategic platform shaping Africa’s infrastructure financing landscape. The award recognizes his contribution to designing, structuring, and implementing financing solutions for infrastructure projects across Africa.
His leadership extends to the global stage through his involvement with the World Association of PPP Units and Professionals (WAPPP) and contributions to initiatives such as the UNDP Resilience Hub for Africa, further demonstrating his commitment to sustainable development across the continent. He also serves as an adjunct lecturer at Strathmore Business School, mentoring the next generation of finance and infrastructure leaders.
At Miundo Misingi Hub, this award reaffirms our core mission: to build an ecosystem where infrastructure projects are not only financially viable but socially transformative. While this recognition honors Johnson’s leadership, it also reflects the dedication of staff, our partners, clients, program participants, and the broader infrastructure community working to build Africa’s future.
