BESIC practice was registered specifically to deal with unique property advisory that involves building surveying, technical due diligence and strategic sustainability consulting.

BESIC was established in 2013 as a built environment & integrated strategic sustainability consulting practice, however due to the changing built environment and the growing needs of our clients; it became necessary to broaden and vary our solutions offering to solve asset management and infrastructure consulting needs.

John is the founder, CEO & Principal Consultant of BESIC Group. Previously, he served in two separate capacities at the Kenya Green Building Society- as the Vice Chair & Head of advocacy committee then CEO. John a building surveyor and ESG consultant by profession is an accredited LEED Green Associate, IFC EDGE Expert, Envision Sustainability Professional, EcoDistricts AP, GBCI-Sustainability Excellence Associate, TRUE Advisor.

In all, John has 18 years’ experience in providing professional technical assistance in property condition assessments (PCAs), green building certification, Environmental, Social & Governance (ESG), responsible investing, sustainable cities, sustainable communities, sustainable infrastructure verifications. and zero waste & circular economy consulting throughout East Africa.

He has carried out the first GRESB ESG Assessment in Africa, developed the first ESG & Climate Resilience policy for a pension fund in Kenya and the first Green Lease for Real Estate assets.

John is an accomplished trainer who’s carried various trainings in ESG, sustainable & resilient infrastructure, sustainable cities and green building. He was one of Kenya Green Building Society (KGBS)’ Co-Consultants that trained the County Governments of Nakuru, Kisii, Homa bay and Nairobi in Green building and prepared the green building guidelines drafts for both Nairobi and Nakuru Counties under the World Resource Institute (WRI) Building Efficiency Accelerator program.

John is a member of the Washington DC-based Institute for Sustainable Infrastructure (ISI) SOE Taskforce Advocacy Committee, Kenya’s National Construction Authority’s (NCA) Alternative Building Materials & Technologies 3-Team expert committee.
